Job summary

Job description

Position Summary

The incumbent will perform a wide variety of neurodiagnostic studies, including conventional nerve conduction studies, repetitive nerve stimulation, cranial nerve stimulation and autonomic nerve testing. They will assist physicians in specialized neurodiagnostic studies in the laboratory at the bedside of patients admitted to the hospital and at satellite offices. The incumbent will take medical histories related to neurological diagnoses, prepare and position patients for electrodiagnostic examinations, including electromyography, maintain the rooms, calibrate equipment, stock supplies, and order supplies. They will also perform clerical duties related to patient records and billing documentation, aid the medical staff as directed by the manager, and schedule patients for electrodiagnostic testing in the Electronic Medical Records system.

Required Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Must be eligible to take the EEG Exam for ABRET credentials (be a student or graduate of a CAAHEP‑accredited END program, OR associate's degree plus one year experience in END, OR at least three years experience in END).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Current BLS certification required by time of hire.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of university and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
• Experience with or willingness to learn interoperative nerve monitoring (IONM).
• Experience performing all phases of neurodiagnostic testing.
