Brown University Health is seeking a Per Diem Teacher Assistant to support classroom teachers and supervise children in a Providence location. Qualifications

• High School Diploma with some college credits in early childhood; Associates Degree or CDA preferred.
• At least 2 years early childhood experience.
• Ability to work towards CPR & first aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Serve as per diem substitute teacher assistant to cover staff absences and maintain required student: teacher ratios.
• Assist teacher in planning activities for groups or individuals and implement the daily schedule.
• Decorate the room with bulletin boards, pictures, children's art work, and other hangings.
• Serve breakfast, lunches, and snacks.
• Help with materials and room clean-up and organization.
• Provide nurturing and supportive environment for children, using positive behavior interventions.
• Complete required training hours annually by attending local workshops and trainings.
• Report any special needs or problems of individual children to the classroom teacher.
• Work with children who have special needs, supporting their development and behavior.
• Report suspected child abuse and/or neglect as required.
