Yale NewHaven Health is seeking an assistant to support radiology patient flow across departments. You will greet patients, prepare exam rooms, assist with positioning, and help transport patients as needed.

The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, with prior health setting experience preferred. You will work closely with technologists to ensure smooth, patient-centered service in a busy imaging environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• One year in a health setting preferred, radiology experience beneficial.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Greet and escort patients and visitors.
• Assist in dressing room preparation and exam readiness.
• Prepare room for exam; assist with patient positioning and movement.
• Transport and transfer patients via stretcher, wheelchair, or bed.
• Stock and order supplies as directed.
• Chaperone during examinations to comfort patients and staff.
• Interview patients to obtain information and inform about medications or allergies.
• Update PACS information and scan paperwork for exams.
• Maintain and clean equipment and exam rooms; report defects.
• Adjust work routines to department needs without disrupting workflow.
• Maintain inventory in exam areas and restock supplies.
• Support technical staff and work as a team.
• Adhere to performance expectations for customer service and teamwork.

Assists diagnostic imaging in patient flow for all radiology departments

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge, skills and abilities to work with patients of all ages.
• Greets and escorts patients and visitors. Assists the patient in the dressing room and preparation for exam
• Assists in preparing room appropriately for exam along with holding, positioning and moving of patients during the examination.
• Transport and transfer patients via stretcher, wheelchair, bed, etc.
• Stocking and ordering supplies as directed
• Chaperone during examinations, treatments, or procedures conducted by its employees or members of its medical staff to provide comfort to patients and providers
• Interviews patients to obtain required information, informs patient of medications/allergies, obtains appropriate signatures, changes and preps patient for exam.
• Updates information in PACS, and scans paperwork exam details, records
• Maintains equipment. Cleans equipment and exam room. Notifies department of equipment defects or damage.
• Adjusts work routine to accommodate patient or department needs without affecting work flow.
• Maintains inventory in exam rooms and other clinical areas. Restocks supplies. Checks for expired supplies.
• Assists technical staff as needed and works well in a team environment.
• Meets performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development as outlined in performance review.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information. Burns CDs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit

Qualifications

EDUCATION (number of years and type required to perform the position duties):

High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE (number of years and type required to meet an acceptable level of performance):

One year in a health setting, preferably in radiology. Strong communication skills (written and oral); Must have a working knowledge of personal computers, must be highly organized and detail-focused and have good people skills.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Will train on diagnostic imaging workflow, PACS and Chaperone process.
