Job summary

Allegria Village seeks a PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to assist in delivering high‑quality therapy services at our skilled nursing facility. You will support Occupational Therapists, implement treatment plans, and help residents improve independence and quality of life.

Join a dedicated interdisciplinary team in a small, 80‑bed facility with in‑house rehabilitation, promoting continuity of care.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Michigan.
  • Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred.
  • Strong understanding of geriatric and long-term care needs.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans under supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
  • Guide therapy activities matching residents’ needs and abilities.
  • Observe and document residents’ progress, behavior, and responses to treatment.
  • Educate residents and families on daily living skills and adaptive equipment.
  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and care professionals to ensure cohesive patient care.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain therapy equipment and materials.
  • Attend care plan meetings to provide input and updates on resident progress.
  • Demonstrate therapeutic techniques to support engagement and rehabilitation.
  • Encourage and guide residents in coping strategies and emotional adjustment during therapy.

Position Summary:

Join our compassionate and dedicated team! We are currently seeking a PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support our residents at our skilled nursing facility. As a key member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will assist Occupational Therapists in delivering high-quality therapy services to help residents improve and maintain their independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

  • Select and guide therapy activities that match residents’ needs and abilities.

  • Observe and document residents' progress, behavior, and responses to treatment.

  • Educate and assist residents and families with daily living skills, and the use of adaptive equipment.

  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other care professionals to ensure cohesive patient care.

  • Prepare, clean, and maintain therapy equipment and materials.

  • Attend care plan meetings to provide input and updates on resident progress.

  • Demonstrate therapeutic techniques such as arts, crafts, games, or other meaningful activities to support engagement and rehabilitation.

  • Encourage and guide residents in coping strategies and emotional adjustment during therapy.

Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

  • Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of Michigan.

  • Previous experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) preferred.

  • Strong understanding of the functional and cognitive needs of geriatric and long-term care populations.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with adaptive equipment and tools.

  • Reliable, organized, and professional demeanor.

  • Flexibility to work varying shifts or travel between areas of the campus as needed.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.

  • Frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, stretching, and typing.
