Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation is hiring a Unit Secretary for a Per Diem, 3PM-11PM shift at our Chester, NJ location. You will perform clerical duties on patient care units, manage orders and communications, and coordinate transportation for tests as needed.

Qualifications

• Proficient computer skills required.
• Minimum of 1 year of clerical experience in a medical setting.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Use independent judgment to provide clerical services to patient care units, including transcription of orders, filing, and arranging transportation and follow-up tests.
• Answering the telephone, taking and delivering messages.
• Maintaining close communication with the Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handling all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
• Ordering supplies from Materials Management.
• Verifying physician privileges prior to transcribing orders.
• Transcribing and flagging orders from charts.
• Arranging transport for patients for tests not offered in the hospital.
