Job summary

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in Chester, NJ seeks a Unit Secretary for a full-time 3PM-11PM shift, including weekdays and weekends. The inpatient rehab hospital focuses on brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and neurological/orthopedic issues.

Responsibilities include clerical support on patient care units, order transcription, phone operations, coordinating with the Charge Nurse, paperwork management, and arranging patient transportation.

Qualifications

• Proficient computer skills required.
• A minimum of 1 year of clerical experience in a medical setting preferred.
• High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical services to patient care units, including transcription of orders and filing reports.
• Answer phones and deliver messages.
• Maintain communication with Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handle all necessary paperwork promptly.
• Order supplies from Materials Management as needed.
• Verify physician privileges before transcribing orders.
• Transcribe and flag orders from charts.
• Arrange patient transportation for tests not offered in the hospital.
