Job summary

Chapters Health System seeks a Chaplain to provide spiritual care to patients and families across programs, along with support to staff and volunteers.

The role requires ordination/endorsement, CPE, and healthcare context experience. Strong English communication, travel ability, and EMR/EHR familiarity are important.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, Christian counseling or related degree from an accredited institution required if hired after 5/26/2024.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Divinity or related Degree from an accredited institution required if hired prior to 5/26/2024.
  • Ordination or commissioning/endorsement from an ordaining body recognized by the Endorser's Conference demonstrates standing with the organization; ordination must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc.; or in process within six months of employment.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR and appropriate computer skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel and work in home/hospital/ALF settings.
  • Must communicate clearly in English.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a spiritual care plan in conjunction with the interdisciplinary group.
  • Provides appropriate spiritual care and initiates interventions to resolve care plan issues.
  • Implements the spiritual care plan through personal contact or by enlisting volunteers, clergy, or counselors.
  • Monitors the care plan and reassesses as needed.
  • Maintains documentation reflecting timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and clarity of goals.
  • Acts as liaison between the Company and local clergy and congregations.
  • Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and participates in care planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
