Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking an experienced per diem registered nurse to provide age-specific care using the nursing process in a high-acuity unit. The role requires coordination with physicians and health team members, documentation, and adherence to safety protocols.

The ideal candidate holds a NYS RN license, BSN preferred, and may be enrolled in a BSN program with a plan to obtain the degree within five years. ICU RN experience of 2+ years is preferred to support critical patient needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• BSN preferred; enrolled in BSN program within two years and obtain BSN within five years of entry date.
• 2+ years of ICU RN experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs age-specific nursing care using the nursing process and coordinates with physicians and health team members.
• Conducts patient interviews, assesses health status across systems, documents plan of care, and communicates with family.
• Interprets and implements prescribed treatment regimens and assists physicians during procedures while ensuring safety.
• Delivers discharge planning and patient/family education, maintains accurate documentation of care and outcomes.
• Demonstrates leadership and delegates tasks to the care team to ensure quality patient care.
