The Cardiovascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing cardiac and interventional examinations as required by staff physicians.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides technologist services for Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, and vascular imaging.
• Works with the PACS system.
• Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed supplies.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions.
• Prepares patients for radiological procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified positions, and setting up sterile fields in conjunction with procedures.
• Minimizes radiation exposure to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam-restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, and following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs such as contrast media.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Ensures regular and prompt attendance at work.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Ability

• Eligibility for employment in the U.S.
• Active certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Certification in Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) and/or Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) within three years of hire.
• Previous experience working in a Cath Lab/IR Lab is required.
• Must possess a Wisconsin radiographer license.
• Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
• BLS certification required upon hire.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills for safe patient care and documentation.
• Willingness to participate in goal-setting and professional development activities.
• Awareness of professional standards and adherence to them.
