Job summary

The Dimock Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist for its Acute Treatment Services in Roxbury, MA. This per diem role supports admissions, discharges, and detox, providing safe, compassionate care in a fast-paced setting.

You will work mostly night shifts and weekends with a pay differential where applicable, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure recovery-focused care and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, human services, healthcare, residential care, or related setting.
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Preferred bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented environment for all patients.
• Monitor patient safety and communicate changes in condition to nursing staff.
• Support admissions, orientations, and discharge processes.
• Complete intake documentation and explain required program paperwork.
• Assist patients with orientation, daily routines, meals, and recovery programming.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and recovery-focused groups as assigned.
• Collaborate with nurses, clinicians, case managers, providers, and fellow staff.
