Job summary

Dimock Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist for Acute Treatment Services (Per Diem) in Roxbury, MA. This role supports admissions, discharges, and continuous monitoring of patients in a medically monitored detox environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, human services, healthcare, residential care, or related setting.
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts, including days/evenings/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented environment for all patients.
• Build therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Monitor patient safety and communicate changes to nursing staff.
• Support admissions, orientations, and discharge processes.
• Complete intake documentation and explain required paperwork.
• Conduct property and room searches per program policies.
• Perform routine safety checks and support unit operations.
• Assist patients with orientation, daily routines, meals, and recovery programming.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and recovery-focused groups as assigned.
• Use de-escalation and conflict resolution to manage crises.
• Enforce program expectations therapeutically and respectfully.
• Assist patients needing personal care due to illness or limitations.
• Maintain a clean, safe treatment environment.
• Collaborate with nurses, clinicians, and other staff.
• Participate in trainings and quality improvement initiatives.
