Job summary

Position Description

Shifts will vary approximately 4–6 hours per day (including practices and game coverage as assigned).

Reports To

Head Athletic Trainer

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide on‑site athletic training coverage for practices, competitions, and events as assigned.
  • Evaluate, treat, and manage athletic injuries in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist with injury prevention strategies, including taping, bracing, and warm‑up oversight.
  • Administer therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation exercises under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide appropriate first aid and acute care.
  • Communicate effectively with coaches, athletes, and athletic training staff regarding injury status and participation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely injury documentation and treatment records.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe athletic training environment.
  • Adhere to institutional policies, departmental procedures, and applicable governing body regulations.
Requirements
  • NATABOC certified, NY State licensed or eligible. CPR / AED certified.
  • Strong computer, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel, work evenings, weekends and some holidays as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in Athletic Training or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in higher education or professional sports setting.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift equipment on occasion and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with a wide range of constituent groups.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve.
