Job summary

Hampton Behavioral Health Center, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking an Admissions Nurse/Senior Assessment Coordinator for per diem coverage. The role involves coordinating admissions, conducting psychiatric assessments, and facilitating insurance authorizations within our private behavioral health center in New Jersey.

Ideal candidates are RNs with a nursing background, a relevant master's degree, and NJ licensure or crisis intervention certification.

Qualifications

• Nurse (RN) is required.
• Master's degree in counseling/psychology/related field with or without license/certification.
• Bachelor's degree in psychology/sociology/related field with a current NJ license/certification or state crisis intervention screening license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with referral agencies to facilitate admissions to inpatient and/or outpatient care.
• Facilitate all aspects of the assessment and admission process for psychiatric evaluation.
• Provide comprehensive level of care assessment and treatment recommendations within our continuum of care.
• Handle inquiry calls from referral sources, patients, and family members seeking treatment options.
• Coordinate with insurance for authorizations of recommended treatment.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Collaborate with department Director and Supervisor to ensure compliance with state and facility requirements.
• For Nurses: provide comprehensive medical evaluations for referrals and obtain orders for admission.
• Maintain strict confidentiality.

• Coordinating with referral agencies in facilitating step down/direct transfer admissions to both our inpatient and/or outpatient continuum of care.
• Facilitating all aspects of the assessment and admission process for patients seeking evaluation for psychiatric (with possible co-occurring substance abuse) treatment.
• Provide a comprehensive level of care assessment for providing a recommendation for treatment within our continuum of care.
• Provide efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls from referral sources, patients, and family members seeking treatment options.
• Coordinating with insurance companies for authorizations of recommended treatment
• Responsible for accurate and timely documentation.
• Works collaboratively with the department Director and Supervisor to ensure compliance with state and facility requirements.
• For Nurses: provide comprehensive medical evaluations for referrals, conduct nurse to nurse reports when indicated, obtain orders for admit
• Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Significant computer skills, data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet maintenance.
• Ability to multitask and strong organizational skills.
• Experience with Cerner a plus.
