Job summary

Pep Boys / Mavis Tire is seeking experienced Automotive Mechanics in the Portsmouth, VA area to inspect, diagnose, and repair a variety of vehicles at our service centers. You will perform maintenance tasks, from brakes and suspension work to oil changes and tire mounting, while upholding safety and customer service standards.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of automotive repair and maintenance experience or equivalent training.
• Ability to perform a range of automotive services safely and effectively.
• Must have the personal tools necessary to perform repairs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and perform maintenance and repair services.
• Carry out undercar repairs including brakes, suspension, and steering.
• Perform oil and filter changes and fluid checks.
• Replace worn or damaged parts and prepare vehicles for state inspections where applicable.
• Mount, rotate, and balance tires while maintaining Mavis standards.

We're looking for experienced, full-time Automotive Mechanics to join Team Mavis at our automotive service, repair, and tire sales centers in the Portsmouth, VA area.

About the Position

As an Automotive Mechanic, you'll inspect, diagnose, and perform a variety of automotive maintenance and repair services to help keep our customers safely on the road.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing undercar repairs, including brakes, struts, shocks, suspension, and steering
• Diagnosing vehicle maintenance and repair needs
• Performing oil and filter changes and checking fluids
• Replacing worn or damaged parts
• Completing state inspections, where applicable
• Mounting, rotating, and balancing tires
• Maintaining Mavis standards for quality, safety, and customer service

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
• Have at least 2 years of automotive repair and maintenance experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Have the personal tools necessary to perform automotive and undercar repairs

Preferred:

State inspection license(s) and ASE Certifications, including Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1), Suspension and Steering (A4), and Brakes (A5).

Physical Requirements

Automotive Mechanics must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, pull, reach, and perform repetitive movements associated with automotive repair. Mechanics must also be able to regularly lift and/or move items weighing more than 50 pounds.
