Job summary

Pep Boys / Mavis Tire in the Newark area is seeking experienced, full-time Automotive Mechanics to inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles. This role covers brakes, suspension, tires, and a range of maintenance tasks to keep customers safely on the road.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of repair experience and own tools; ASE certifications and state inspections are preferred. We offer competitive weekly pay, benefits, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2 years of automotive repair and maintenance experience and/or training.
• Must have personal tools to perform automotive and undercar repairs.
• Preferred ASE certifications including G1, A4, A5 and state inspection license.

Responsibilities

• Perform undercar repairs including brakes, suspension, and steering.
• Diagnose vehicle maintenance and repair needs.
• Perform oil and filter changes and check fluids.
• Replace worn or damaged parts as needed.
• Complete state inspections where applicable.
• Mount, rotate, and balance tires.
• Maintain Mavis quality, safety, and customer service standards.

We're looking for experienced, full-time Automotive Mechanics to join Team Mavis at our automotive service, repair, and tire sales centers in the Orange, NJ area.

About the Position

As an Automotive Mechanic, you'll inspect, diagnose, and perform a variety of automotive maintenance and repair services to help keep our customers safely on the road.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing undercar repairs, including brakes, struts, shocks, suspension, and steering
• Diagnosing vehicle maintenance and repair needs
• Performing oil and filter changes and checking fluids
• Replacing worn or damaged parts
• Completing state inspections, where applicable
• Mounting, rotating, and balancing tires
• Maintaining Mavis standards for quality, safety, and customer service

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
• Have at least 2 years of automotive repair and maintenance experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Have the personal tools necessary to perform automotive and undercar repairs

Preferred: State inspection license(s) and ASE Certifications, including Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1), Suspension and Steering (A4), and Brakes (A5).

Physical Requirements

Automotive Mechanics must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, pull, reach, and perform repetitive movements associated with automotive repair. Mechanics must also be able to regularly lift and/or move items weighing more than 50 pounds.
