Job summary

Mavis Tires & Brakes is hiring Automotive Mechanics to join our growing team in the Niles, IL area. As part of the Pep Boys/Mavis family, you will diagnose, repair and maintain vehicles, including brakes, suspension and tire services, in a full-time capacity.

Qualifications

• Must have strong automotive repair skills across brakes, suspension, steering and general maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose vehicle issues and propose effective repairs.
• Must possess own personal tools necessary to perform automotive repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform undercar repairs including brakes, struts, shocks, suspension and steering.
• Diagnose vehicle maintenance and repair needs.
• Perform oil changes and check fluids.
• Replace worn or damaged parts.
• Complete state inspections where applicable.
• Mount, rotate and balance tires.
• Maintain Mavis standards for quality, safety and customer service.

We're looking for experienced, full-time Automotive Mechanics to join Team Mavis at our automotive service, repair, and tire sales centers in the Niles, IL area.

About the Position

As an Automotive Mechanic, you'll inspect, diagnose, and perform a variety of automotive maintenance and repair services to help keep your customers safely on the road.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing undercar repairs, including brakes, struts, shocks, suspension, and steering
• Diagnosing vehicle maintenance and repair needs
• Performing oil and filter changes and checking fluids
• Replacing worn or damaged parts
• Completing state inspections, where applicable
• Mounting, rotating, and balancing tires
• Maintaining Mavis standards for quality, safety, and customer service

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
• Have at least 2 years of automotive repair and maintenance experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Have the personal tools necessary to perform automotive and undercar repairs

Preferred:

State inspection license(s) and ASE Certifications, including Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1), Suspension and Steering (A4), and Brakes (A5).

Physical Requirements

Automotive Mechanics must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, pull, reach, and perform repetitive movements associated with automotive repair. Mechanics must also be able to regularly lift and/or move items weighing more than 50 pounds.
