Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA, seeks a Software Engineering Manager for the People applications to lead teams building HRIS, payroll, benefits, recruiting, and related integrations powering the employee lifecycle.

You will provide technical leadership, ensure reliable and secure systems, mentor engineers, and partner with People, Payroll, and Talent to scale platforms as SpaceX grows. Aerospace experience not required, just collaborative leaders.”

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline and 5+ years of software development experience; OR 7+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree
• 1+ years of experience with direct report management for a software engineering team
• Experience developing across a full-stack: web server, database, and client-side (HTML/JavaScript/CSS), CI/CD
• Programming experience in Python, C#, .NET, Go, Java, or similar OO language
• Front-end experience in Angular, React, or similar JS framework

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the software supporting People operations, including HRIS, payroll, time and attendance, benefits, recruiting, employee master data and org structure
• Ensure reliable, private, auditable, scalable systems; align with stakeholders’ needs; architect for future scale
• Provide strong technical leadership and strategic guidance to software teams
• Drive speed of iteration of the software teams with focus on capability-based deliverables
• Set priorities, plan work, and manage system roadmap
• Collaborate with department leaders to ensure end-to-end data flows and strong controls
• Directly manage a team of software engineers and engineering leads
• Mentor and develop employees through coaching and performance reviews
• Conduct weekly 1:1s and support learning and development
