Job summary

H&M is seeking a People Relations Specialist for a 1-year project in Secaucus, NJ. You will guide the relationship between leaders and employees in the US Sales Market, resolving conflicts and ensuring compliance with employment policies.

The role reports to the US People Relations Manager and involves influencing local strategies, risk management, and training for HR business lines; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Two+ years in Employee/People Relations with HR exposure.
  • Knowledge of US federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Experience developing, revising, and implementing HR policies.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on day-to-day people relations activities, supporting the HR Business Line in handling issues of conflict resolution, investigations, and policy interpretation
  • Handle escalated investigations and matters where a conflict exists for the HR Business Partner
  • Drive implementation plan of new and/or updated H&M Group social policies, guidelines or framework
  • Deliver on local people relations plans and priorities aligned with global strategy and priorities
  • Provide strategic and operational advice to local management and HR Business Line
  • Keep up to date on employment law to ensure compliance
  • Govern and follow up on compliance for entire Sales Market
  • Ensure local grievance process that is in line with the Global grievance policy and handle grievance investigations
  • Ensure the respect for freedom of associations for all colleagues connected to our business
  • Create a trustful relationship with employee representatives
  • Secure that Managers are fully aware of their responsibilities and have a proactive internal dialogue
  • Drive risk assessments as a tool to identify hazards in the physical and psychosocial work environment
  • Participate in risk assessments to analyze events which might lead to crisis and uncertainty in the organization e.g., internal controls or geopolitics context
  • Secure that crisis is handled in accordance with Our General People Principles - In times of crisis
  • Contribution to People Relations Network
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required

People Relations Specialist - 1 Year Project
  • Full-time

For this People Relations Specialist project, your focus will be to guide and enhance the relationship between the leaders and employees within the US Sales Market. Your role is crucial in fostering a positive work environment, resolving conflicts, and ensuring that employment policies and practices align with legal requirements.Understanding the broader business goals in your Sales Market and how people relations strategies align with and contribute to achieving those objectives. Equip HR Business Line and Business Leaders with the appropriate training, tools, and access to relevant information to be proactive in managing risk and People Relations related topics/cases.

This hybrid role reports into our People Relations Manager, US and is based out of an US Support Office location (Secaucus, New Jersey).

A Day in the Life

Who You Are:
  • At least two years Employee/People Relations experience (may consider equivalent HR education + ER experience)
  • Some knowledge of federal, state, local US employment laws and regulations
  • Proven track record in developing, revising, and implementing HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated commitment to human rights advocacy within the workplace.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive occupational health and safety programs

Compensation: salary range is $ 97,840-122,300 annually**
