Overview

Job Title: People Partner (Contractor). Job Type: Full-Time Contract (6 months, with potential for extension or conversion). Location: Remote (Central Time Zone preferred; optional onsite work if based near Austin, TX). Compensation: $64/hr. - $70/hr.

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced People Partner (Contractor) to support a fast-paced, tech-focused HR team during a period of rapid integration and organizational change. This role partners closely with two HR Business Partners (HRBPs) supporting a combined employee population of approximately 300 team members across engineering, marketing, and related functions. Reporting to a senior HRBP (Director-level), this role will serve as a primary contact for employee relations, performance management, and HR operations. You’ll help scale programs and processes, provide coaching to managers, and offer insights that shape the broader people strategy. This opportunity suits someone who is confident working independently, thrives in ambiguous environments, and is motivated to build and improve while navigating change.

Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations & Manager Support (70%)
    • Act as a first-line responder for HR inquiries submitted through an internal ticketing system, coaching managers on performance issues and resolving employee concerns.
    • Provide guidance on policy interpretation, documentation, and resolution pathways.
    • Help managers navigate performance conversations, including when to initiate informal coaching vs. formal improvement plans.
    • Support sensitive employee issues and guide decisions with a focus on fairness and compliance.
  • Performance Management
    • Coordinate formal bi-annual review cycles (January and June), including tracking submissions, preparing calibration materials, and supporting communication and training.
    • Monitor off-cycle performance concerns and escalate or intervene as appropriate.
    • Assist in developing templates, guides, and tools for managers to strengthen performance discussions.
  • Engagement & Feedback
    • Help launch and manage company-wide engagement surveys using Glint or similar platforms.
    • Analyze and summarize survey data in Google Sheets, flagging key trends or opportunities to HR leadership.
    • Coordinate 360-degree feedback processes and deliver anonymized reports to support development conversations.
  • HR Operations & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate documentation to support compliance and internal audit readiness.
    • Respond to Tier 1 HR questions (e.g., date verifications, system navigation, policy clarifications) and route inquiries to appropriate teams.
    • Generate reports related to case volume, performance review participation, and engagement survey response rates.
    • Identify recurring issues or trends to inform continuous improvement efforts.
Ideal Candidate Profile

We’re seeking someone who’s skilled in core HR practices, curious, collaborative, and energized by solving problems in a modern, transparent HR environment. This is not a traditional or hierarchical HR department—we’re looking for a strong communicator and self-starter who is comfortable working across teams and navigating change.

What You Bring
  • 3-7 years of experience in an HR Generalist, People Partner, or Employee Relations-focused role.
  • Proven ability to handle complex employee relations issues with discretion, sound judgment, and a coaching mindset.
  • Experience supporting HRBP teams or operating in shared services/ticketing environments.
  • Solid understanding of performance management best practices, including managing review cycles and coaching managers.
  • Analytical mindset; able to work with spreadsheets and tools to identify trends and share insights.
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Workday (preferred).
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, high-growth environments with changing priorities.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with engagement survey platforms (e.g., Glint) and 360 feedback programs.
  • Prior experience supporting organizations going through integration, transformation, or M&A.
  • Familiarity with tools like Google Sheets, Leverage, or other collaborative platforms.
Location & Work Hours
  • Remote-friendly, with preference for candidates in Central Time Zone to best align with HRBPs in multiple time zones.
  • Optional onsite access for candidates located near Austin, TX.
Contract Details
  • Initial Term: 6 months
  • Potential for Extension or Conversion: There is strong interest in converting this role to a full-time hire pending headcount approval. If not converted, an extension is likely.
