Job summary

Roskam Foods in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a hands-on HR Generalist to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will guide employee relations, compliance, and performance initiatives, partnering with plant leaders to drive people programs.

You’ll handle confidential cases, assist with safety and training, and contribute to recruitment and onboarding across multiple shifts. A union environment and manufacturing HR exposure are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required.
• At least one year of HR and employee relations experience preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing/unions environment preferred.
• Experience handling confidential information.
• Ability to interact with all levels and be approachable.
• Bi-lingual preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Disseminates continuous improvement in HR processes and acts as a change agent.
• Ensures compliance with policies, regulations, and laws at all levels.
• Partners with leaders on employment regulations, policies, and best practices.
• Supports leaders to achieve business unit and department goals.
• Collaborates with HR team and centers of excellence as needed.
• Serves as project team member and implementor for HR initiatives.
• Spends significant time in production areas offering hands-on support.
• Partners with plant safety to enforce policy and procedures.
• Executes HR programs including disciplinary matters, investigations, performance and talent management.
