Job description

This position will ideally be based in Denver, CO or in the Western United States as it supports the NW/SW practices and hospitals and will be supporting individuals mainly in the PST time zone. Ability to travel 35-40% depending on geography to support business needs.

Job Summary:

A People Operations Business Partner embodies our culture and core values by cultivating a great team member experience and is a champion for both team members and their leaders. They deliver a full spectrum of both strategic and tactical HR support and programs to the organization including educating team members on engagement and wellbeing practices, labor relations, performance management, career development, and advising on various management issues impacting the employee experience. In this role, the People Operations Business Partner will closely partner with business leaders (primarily Regional Directors of Operations) to provide comprehensive human resources support and guidance to ultimately improve talent levels throughout the region and align people capabilities with business objectives.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure depth of understanding of organizations supported, including key functions and processes.
  2. Support and work with business teams to understand current and future goals and trends that may impact workforce needs and initiatives.
  3. Proactively engage with leaders on people strategy through workforce planning, organization design, and structure to build a culture and employee experience which inspires and motivates employees.
  4. Lead appropriate talent planning activities that will identify talent, leadership development priorities, and succession plans.
  5. Assess development needs and promote a learning environment which supports on-the-job opportunities.
  6. Leverage coaching skills to assist managers through development and performance matters.
  7. Help develop, coordinate, and implement engagement initiatives, processes, and activities to help leaders foster company culture and ensure an exceptional workplace.
  8. Understand the training and development needs of the region and act as liaison of the Talent and Learning department to deliver or secure appropriate training to the region.
  9. Track and report on people metrics and other data to management and recommend programs and/or enhancements as appropriate.
  10. Translate Thrive’s priorities into strategy with business impact and work collaboratively on cross-functional teams, both as a lead and a supporting team member.
  11. Provide coaching and mentorship to regional directors, helping them strengthen leadership capabilities and team management skills.
  12. Visit hospitals to ensure people processes and tools are being used to drive engagement and culture.
  13. Support employee relations issues and conduct investigations when needed.
  14. Partner with People Ops Director to address complex employment issues and mitigate risks.
  15. Develop and work on special and cross-functional projects as identified.
Key Qualifications:
  1. 5+ years of experience in a HRBP or similar role, supporting a multi-level and multi-state organization. Experience in the veterinary industry ideal.
  2. Foundational understanding of human resources analytics and experience with HR systems and tools, with an ability to see the implications of actual and planned activities, contributing to leadership decisions.
  3. Strong interpersonal communication skills, including listening, influencing, educating, facilitating, and coaching all levels of leadership.
  4. Ability to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with managers and People Operations colleagues.
  5. Resourceful, inventive, self-motivated, and able to lead independently.
  6. Ability to coach, mentor, and advise where appropriate to help managers and team members grow and develop in alignment with business and personal goals.
  7. Impeccable judgment and ability to balance the needs of the company and the employee experience, while navigating multiple stakeholders.
  8. Flexible and adaptable based on changing needs and priorities of the organization.
  9. Ability to rapidly mobilize and manage internal and external resources to mitigate risks to Thrive.
  10. Workday knowledge is a plus.
