Job summary

Famous Footwear in Aurora, IL seeks an Assistant Store Manager who leads in the manager's absence, develops a team, and drives the best shoe-store experience for customers and families. You’ll stay brand-conscious, coach selling behaviors, and support trend education across the store.

You will champion talent, manage daily operations, and apply insights to boost sales and store results while fostering an inclusive culture and strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Has a High School Diploma/GED.
• Has at least 1 year of sales experience (retail sales preferred).
• Demonstrates experience in interviewing, hiring, and training people.
• Exhibits an ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with store Associates at all levels.
• Displays ability to train, coach and develop Associates to provide an engaging customer experience and execute operational tasks.
• Exercises independent judgment partnering with Store Sales Manager, as needed.
• Demonstrates strong cognitive skills, including problem solving analysis, decision making, and financial and quantitative analysis.
• Has advanced working knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.
• Can work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.
• Has basic computer skills.

• Champion Talent Discovery and interview/hire individuals passionate about customer experience.
• Ace Retail Operations: manage pricing, shipping, inventory, and staffing aligned with store standards.
• Leverage insights to drive sales and improve store performance with the Store Manager.
• Be a Culture Builder: promote diversity, inclusivity, and positive team dynamics.
• Be Store Manager’s Right Hand: cover for the manager and develop internal talent while ensuring policy compliance.
