About the Team

At DoorDash, people are our most important asset. The People Business Partner team works closely with leaders across our business to align people and strategy. Our HRBPs assess, coach, and influence the company as we scale and evolve to enable our teams to accomplish amazing things. As our COEs have matured, our HRBPs are gaining increasing capacity to partner with business leaders to create mechanisms and solutions that align their business and talent strategies.

About the Role

The HR Business Partner will act as a strategic partner for our Merchant Strategy & Operations organization. Working closely with our Centers of Excellence, this role provides strategic consultation, counsel, and expertise in Employee Relations, Organizational Design and Effectiveness, Workforce Planning, Performance Management, and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, along with tactical support on daily challenges. The role ensures managers are well-equipped to implement people solutions that resolve employee relations issues, foster a positive work climate, and ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation.

This role also involves identifying trending issues, assessing root causes, and making systemic recommendations. It will lead several department-wide programs and contribute significantly to cross-people team initiatives and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coach leadership on people strategies, including team structure, strategic hiring, performance management, compensation, recognition, and learning & development.
  2. Deliver high-quality decisions and counsel to managers and employees; analyze employee matters and recommend appropriate employment actions to maintain a productive environment and minimize risk.
  3. Partner with leadership to define, execute, and track progress on org-specific OKRs, leveraging data to inform recommendations.
  4. Empower managers in leadership development to build effective teams.
  5. Assess employee development needs and suggest solutions.
  6. Identify opportunities for enhancing the employee experience through education, process improvements, and innovative ideas.
  7. Maintain knowledge of all relevant federal, state, and local labor laws.
  8. Lead client groups through DoorDash’s people programs such as engagement surveys, performance reviews, and talent development.
  9. Partner with the Culture, Belonging, and People Growth team to promote inclusion in the workplace.
  10. Collaborate with Employee Relations Business Partner to assess organizational health and provide proactive recommendations.
Qualifications
  1. 6+ years of HR/ER experience with 3+ years as an HR or ER Business Partner, or 8+ years in HR/People COE roles.
  2. Critical thinking skills with proactive issue anticipation and long-term solution suggestions.
  3. Comfort with data and analytics, capable of turning data into insights and compelling stories.
  4. Excellent judgment and independent decision-making abilities.
  5. Strong prioritization and time management skills.
  6. Outstanding communication with relationship-building and influencing skills.
  7. Owner mentality and problem-solving skills with a bias for action.
  8. Ability to serve as a thought partner for business leaders.
  9. Ability to balance qualitative and quantitative data for strategic recommendations.
  10. High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
  11. Experience supporting Frontline ops and Corporate groups preferred.
