As a Principal HR Consultant in our Organizational Strategy Team, you’ll lead innovative client engagements that help local governments and public agencies become more effective, efficient, and resilient. You’ll serve as a project manager, senior strategist, and trusted advisor to government clients.

- Lead complex, high-impact client projects including strategic planning, organizational assessments, workload studies, and business process improvement initiatives.
- Serve as lead consultant and client relationship manager, facilitating projects that shape the future of public service organizations.

- Manage Project Consultants assigned to your engagements.
- Develop and implement scalable consulting models, repeatable tools, and innovative service offerings that drive measurable value and sustainable results for clients.
- Prepare and manage scopes of work, project proposals, contracts, and budgets with a high level of attention to detail and autonomy.
- Contribute to business development by writing proposals, representing CPS HR at conferences, and promoting our thought leadership in the industry.

Travel RequirementsTravel up to 15% of the time to support client engagements. This translates to approximately 2-3 business days per month depending on project needs, including onsite facilitation, workshops, or stakeholder meetings.

- Consistent recognition as a trusted advisor and skilled facilitator with clients actively seeking your strategic input on key business decisions and initiatives.
- A thriving team of seasoned part-time consultants who you'll guide and coordinate across your project portfolio.
- 95%+ of projects completed with client satisfaction scores of 4.5 or higher (1-5 Scale).
- Repeat client engagements and referrals driven by the impact of your work.
- Implementation of new tools and service models that improve project efficiency.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum six years of progressively responsible experience in HR or organizational strategy consulting, including at least three years in local government, client-facing roles, and/or strategic Human Resource functions.
- Expertise in facilitation, strategic planning, and project management in complex environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Public Administration, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources) experience can be substituted for education.
- Master’s or relevant certifications (e.g., Prosci, PMP) are highly desirable.
- Experience designing or scaling service models or toolkits to support consulting engagements.
