We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Transportation Equipment Operator to join our team within the Department of Transportation, Clinton County Maintenance Organization. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Equipment Operator with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, you will be integral to maintaining the safety and efficiency of our roadways, particularly during the demanding winter season when snow removal is crucial. Your responsibilities will include snow plowing and various construction projects, where your expertise significantly influences the infrastructure and safety of the traveling public. Each day will present opportunities to engage in physically demanding tasks, highlighting the importance of collaboration and commitment among your team. In your role, you will operate heavy machinery while also performing minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance on your equipment and vehicles. Additionally, you will maintain detailed records by completing daily logs and reports that track equipment usage and maintenance history. This documentation supports operational efficiency and accountability within the team. Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,988 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed.
  • Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • All employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders, and two additional pieces of construction equipment, within the probationary period.
  • Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
  • Certain positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.
  • This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
