THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking individuals to become Transportation Equipment Operator Trainees in Montgomery County. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This trainee position involves operating equipment used in highway construction and maintenance, along with manual labor activities within a highway or bridge maintenance team. During training, you will work toward obtaining licenses and certifications, including the Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) and loader (LD) with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less. You will learn to perform pre- and post-operation inspections, operate controls, use safety features, and handle tire chains.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
• Telework is not available for this position.
• Salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:

• Valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent
• Valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work
• Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work
