DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on the operation of highway construction and maintenance equipment while performing manual tasks that support safe and reliable transportation routes. As a PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee, you will perform the following duties:

• Equipment Operation: Operate trucks, loaders, and other roadway maintenance equipment as required
• CDL Compliance: Maintain a valid CDL and complete training and certification for assigned equipment
• Traffic Control: Conduct flagging duties to help direct traffic during work activities
• Manual Labor Tasks: Use hand tools and motorized tools to complete tasks such as clearing culverts, cutting brush, and repairing barriers
• Routine Maintenance: Perform equipment adjustments, basic repairs, and daily inspections
• Safety Awareness: Follow proper safety procedures and report injuries, hazards, and accidents promptly

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Special Requirements

• This position requires p ossession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
• All positions require employees to possess an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations by the first day of work.

Additional Requirements

• This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit at the time of application.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
