Job summary

Zeigler Bros. Inc is seeking a Pellet Mill Operator for the 3rd shift to set up and operate the pellet mill and crumbles machine, producing pellets that meet quality standards. You will review production sheets, formulas, and SDS sheets, adhering to PPE and HACCP requirements.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, strong problem-solving, and the ability to stand for long periods, lift 55 pounds, and follow strict procedures. EOE; sign-on bonus and direct deposit are offered.

Responsibilities

• Review daily production sheet and formulas, following any special instructions.
• Set up pellet mill and cooler; attach die and adjust crumbles rolls.
• Run production while monitoring quality and completing paperwork accurately.
• Perform cleaning of conditioner and cooler to prevent cross-contamination.
• Follow lock out-tag out procedures and wear required PPE.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crawl, reach, and lift 55 lbs.

Job description

Come join our growing team! Zeigler Bros. Inc. is an established manufacturer of high-end specialty feeds for the aquaculture, pet, and bio-medical research industries. With our continued growth, we have an opening for a Pellet Mill Operator, 3rd shift.

Reporting to the 3rd shift Leader, the incumbent sets up and operates the pellet mill/crumbles machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines to produce pellets/products that meet ZBI quality standards and customer requirements.

Responsibilities: Review daily production sheet and formula(s), paying attention to special instructions. Review SDS sheet for ingredients being used and adhere to PPE protection that is required for processes that will be performed.

Set up pellet mill and cooler following formula instructions. Follow all lock out-tag out procedures prior to set up of die and knife-blade and perform visual checks of knife blades. Attach the appropriate die. Set and adjust crumbles rolls accordingly when applicable. Check bagging bins. Run feed while constantly monitoring product for problems with quality. Complete production paperwork accurately for feed being run.

Perform cleaning of conditioner and cooler following pre-established procedures to prevent cross-contamination and for HACCP requirements.

Must have mechanical aptitude, good problem-solving skills, ability to follow instructions. Must be detail-oriented. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crawl, reach, and lift at least 55 pounds on a continuous basis. Must pass a job-related pre-employment physical and drug-alcohol screening.
