Join our team in Newton, Kansas, and make a meaningful difference in our community every day.About the RoleAs a Peer Support Specialist, you will provide patient-centered, recovery-focused services designed to help individuals build skills for coping with and managing psychiatric symptoms. Your work directly empowers individuals to live, work, and thrive independently within the community, reducing the need for hospitalizations or institutional care.Key ResponsibilitiesPeer Support Services: Deliver direct, recovery-oriented peer support to guide and mentor individuals toward their personal goals.Administrative & Documentation: Maintain accurate records, complete required documentation, and manage daily administrative tasks.Productivity & Quality: Meet productivity standards while engaging in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.Age-Based Competency: Provide tailored, age-appropriate support tailored to the specific developmental needs of each individual.Confidentiality: Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and client privacy standards.Professional Growth: Participate in ongoing professional development, training, and team meetings.Culture & Teamwork: Foster a positive, collaborative, and compassionate environment with coworkers, clients, and community partners.What We OfferPredictable Schedule: Standard day shift (Mon–Fri, 8 AM–5 PM) with weekends off.Impactful Work: Help local residents achieve stability, independence, and long-term recovery.Supportive Environment: Work alongside a dedicated team committed to high-quality care and personal growth.QualificationsLived Experience (Required): Personal, firsthand lived experience with mental health recovery, along with the willingness to share your story appropriately to mentor and support others.Certification: State of Kansas Peer Support Specialist Certification preferred (or eligibility/willingness to obtain certification upon hire).Skills: Strong active listening, interpersonal communication, and basic computer skills for documentation.Professional Integrity: Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, professional boundaries, and a non-judgmental attitude.Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.Transportation Requirements: Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, and proof of current auto insurance to transport clients as needed.
