Peer Support Specialist Supporting Spanish-Speaking Parents

About The Organization

Perinatal Support Washington (PS-WA) supports the emotional well-being of people preconception through postpartum (up to 2 years) who are at risk or currently experiencing mental health needs. As a statewide nonprofit dedicated to perinatal mental health, we believe all parents should receive appropriate, timely, and culturally relevant care.

Our direct service programs are designed to provide specialized perinatal mental health services so that no parent goes without the support they deserve. We offer short and long-term peer support, clinical therapy, support groups, and more. PS-WA is committed to strengthening our care system through training and consultation for professionals, aiming to fill care gaps and innovate in the perinatal mental health field.

About The Position

The Parent Resilience Program provides culturally-matched peer support to the Latinx/Spanish-speaking community in King County and Skagit County, as well as Black families in King County. We are hiring a full-time Peer Support Specialist in Skagit County to serve Latinx/Spanish-speaking families.

This full-time position (0.75 FTE, 30 hours/week, $31.80/hour) supports PS-WA’s mission by assisting pregnant and parenting families at risk for or experiencing PMAD (Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder). The role involves community-based, in-person support, occasional evening and weekend work, and training in culturally respectful screening, behavioral health support, and resource navigation.

Ideal candidates are parents from the Latinx/Spanish-speaking community with personal experience with perinatal mental health challenges. They should be warm, enthusiastic, collaborative, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide culturally matched services directly to Spanish-speaking parents in Skagit County.

Work is remote, with support in community settings (libraries, parks, clinics, homes). Weekly staff meetings are via video conference. Candidates outside Skagit County should consider their capacity to serve in this area. The role may evolve to be based at partner organizations as the organization grows.
