Job summary

Pyramid Healthcare in Mars Hill, NC is seeking a compassionate Peer Support Specialist (PSS) to join the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT). You will use your lived experience with recovery to inspire hope, build trust, and empower clients living with serious mental illness to pursue their goals.

The role involves peer coaching, collaboration with clinicians, accurate documentation in the electronic health record, and crisis support.

Qualifications

• North Carolina Peer Support Specialist Certification (required)
• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Personal lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery (required)
• Valid North Carolina driver's license with reliable transportation (required)
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary treatment team
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Peer Support & Recovery Coaching: Build trusting, supportive relationships through shared lived experience.
• Peer Support & Recovery Coaching: Encourage hope, resilience, and personal growth while supporting clients in achieving recovery goals.
• Peer Support & Recovery Coaching: Facilitate recovery-focused, educational, and social groups.
• Peer Support & Recovery Coaching: Assist clients with developing independent living skills and community integration.
• Provide or coordinate transportation to appointments, services, and community resources as needed.
• Team Collaboration: Participate in daily ACTT team meetings and contribute valuable peer perspectives.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, case managers, and other team members to develop individualized treatment and recovery plans.
• Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with referral sources, family members, and community providers to support continuity of care.
• Documentation & Compliance: Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation within the electronic health record.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain client records, releases of information, treatment documentation, and discharge planning.
• Documentation & Compliance: Assist with documenting daily team meetings and other required program records.
• Crisis Response & Community Support: Provide support during behavioral health crises and assist with crisis planning.
• Crisis Response & Community Support: Participate in rotating on-call responsibilities for after-hours support, when applicable.
• Crisis Response & Community Support: Help clients navigate community resources that promote long-term recovery, stability, employment, housing, and wellness.
