• Reliable transportation and current automobile insurance.
• Ability to travel within the assigned service area.
• Basic computer and documentation skills.

Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) – Community Support Team

Greenville, NC & Surrounding Counties

Pathways to Life, Inc. is looking for a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our Community Support Team in Greenville and surrounding counties.

You’ll work with individuals in their homes and communities, helping them build confidence, strengthen connections, and work toward their personal recovery goals.

What You’ll Do

• Build supportive, recovery-focused relationships using your lived experience.

• Provide individual and group peer support, mentoring, and encouragement.

• Help individuals identify and work toward personal recovery goals.

• Support areas such as wellness, coping skills, relapse prevention, daily living skills, employment readiness, and community involvement.

• Connect individuals with resources such as housing, employment, education, healthcare, transportation, and benefits.

• Encourage self-advocacy, independence, wellness, and healthy community connections.

• Participate in Person-Centered Planning and support identified recovery goals.

• Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record.

• Communicate progress and concerns with the Qualified Professional and Community Support Team.

• Follow agency procedures during behavioral health crises or emergencies.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certification.

• Personal lived experience with recovery from a mental health and/or substance use disorder.

• High school diploma or GED.

• Valid North Carolina driver's license.

• Reliable transportation and current automobile insurance.

• Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area.

• Basic computer and documentation skills.

Preferred:

• Community-based behavioral health experience.

• Familiarity with North Carolina Medicaid behavioral health services.

• Experience with an electronic health record (EHR).

What the Job Looks Like

This is a community-based position. Services may be provided in members' homes, community locations, healthcare or behavioral health offices, and other approved settings.

Office time is required for documentation, meetings, supervision, and training. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be needed based on member schedules.

You should be comfortable traveling throughout Greenville and surrounding counties and working independently while staying connected with your team.
