Job summary

Unison Health in Ohio is seeking a Peer Support Specialist for our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program, delivering evidence-based, community-based behavioral health services to adults with serious mental illness. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, use lived experience to support recovery, and help clients access resources while maintaining compassionate, trauma-informed care.

This role requires flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with opportunities

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must become a certified peer supporter within six months of hire.
• Must obtain CPI and CPR following hire.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Knowledge of mental illness and recovery process is essential; experience with co-occurring disorders is a plus.

Position Summary:

Unison Health is seeking a Peer Support Specialist for our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program, an evidenced based model of delivering comprehensive community based behavioral health services to adults with certain serious and persistent mental illnesses who have not benefited from traditional outpatient treatment. The ACT model utilizes a multidisciplinary team of providers who work closely together delivering services designed to meet the needs of the clients served.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Requires a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Prior experience preferred.
• Must meet requirements and become a certified peer supporter within six months of hire.
• Must obtain CPI and CPR following hire.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of mental illness and the recovery process. (Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and treatment is preferred.)
• Must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule that will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must demonstrate the ability to identify and react with emotional intelligence to a person in crisis for the purposes of nonviolent de-escalation or linking with the appropriate level of care for treatment.
