Job summary

Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery-based supportive services to clients and help them pursue health and wellness goals.

The role includes supporting incarcerated individuals seeking treatment, coordinating care, transporting clients when needed, and initiating at the start of treatment services. Responsibilities include promoting engagement with clinicians, completing documentation, and assisting with recovery resources, education, and ongoing

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or higher with knowledge of wellness and recovery concepts.
• Personal experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must have peer support specialist certification.

Responsibilities

• Promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians and engagement with psychiatric appointments.
• Completes documentation of services and pursues ongoing continuing education.
• Assists clients with recovery support, sharing lived experience, coordinating care, and resource acquisition.

Job description

The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery based supportive services for Coastal Horizons clients to assist them in pursuing and achieving health, wellness, & recovery goals. The Peer Support Specialist will provide support to incarcerated individuals seeking treatment to streamline individuals into treatment, provide resources, and engage at the onset of treatment services. Must be able to coordinate care, transport clients if needed, and track recovery support services provided.

SCHEDULE:

Monday – Friday, Full Time

LOCATION:

Brunswick County - Onsite/Community Based

R EQUIRED EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

HS Diploma or higher, combined with knowledge of wellness and recovery-based concepts. Personal experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment, or some equivalent experience preferred. Must have peer support specialist certification.

POSITION HIGHTLIGHTS:

Promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, engagement with psychiatric appointments, involvement and engagement with wellness services and recovery support, and engagement with primary care.

Completes documentation of services, engages in ongoing continuing education for professional development, and works in a variety of settings.

Assists clients in a variety of ways – recovery support, sharing of lived experience, resource acquisition, coordination of care.
