Job summary

Northern Kentucky University is seeking a Peer Support Specialist for a fixed-term role to assist peers in recovery goal setting, practice new skills, and advocate for services. The role includes mentoring clients and sharing recovery stories to foster hope and empowerment.

You will coordinate client care, support transportation and groups, and maintain strict confidentiality under HIPAA. A high school diploma with Kentucky certification is required.

Position Title:Peer Support SpecialistPosition Type:Fixed Term (Fixed Term)About the Role:Assist peers in articulating recovery goals and learning/practicing new skills, supporting them in their treatment and advocating themselves for services. Share personal recovery stories to show that recovery is attainable. Serve as a mentor to clients to promote hope and personal empowerment .Exemplify recovery principles for clients.May assist with transportation, groups, behavioral health providers, MRT classes, or care coordinators and reentry specialists.Mentor clients .Coordinating client care .Serving as a healthcare advocate for clients .KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs ):Good data entry skills, ability to exercise discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
