PEER SUPPORT/RECOVERY SPECIALIST

Full‑time position (8 AM – 8 PM), 5/2 shift with alternating weekends.

Location: Flowood, MS. The role will be based at Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare, a 120‑bed behavioral health facility providing psychiatric services to adults, children and adolescents.

Responsibilities

Peer Recovery Specialists collaborate with other providers to implement Individualized Service Plans with active patient involvement. The role includes:

• Assisting patients in community activities and therapy sessions.
• Monitoring and following up on patient adherence to medical recommendations.
• Helping patients with travel to necessary appointments and meetings as indicated in the treatment plan.
• Supporting patients in managing multiple health issues.
• Offering guidance based on the specialist’s own recovery experience to help patients achieve stability and maintain coping and life‑skill goals.
• Delivering services in person, via telemedicine, or audio‑only as appropriate.

Qualifications

Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent with 1–2 years experience in a mental‑health setting (psychiatric/inpatient or outpatient, residential, or group home).

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a mental‑health related field with two years’ experience in a psychiatric or CD inpatient, residential, or group home setting.
