Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group in Sylmar, CA is seeking a Peer Support Counselor to provide outreach, engagement, advocacy, and direct services to clients across age groups, drawing on lived experience to support recovery. You will act as a relatable guide and advocate, helping clients move toward stable, meaningful lives.

The role offers a Sunday-Thursday 10:00am–6:30pm schedule and a starting pay of $20.00–$21.00 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package, paid CEU opportunities, and

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Lived experience as a consumer within child welfare, probation, or mental health systems required.
• One year of full-time experience in mental health, healthcare, or social services setting preferred.
• Peer Support Specialist Certification must be completed within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach, engagement, support, advocacy, and direct services to program clients using their lived experience.
• Serve as role models, companions, educators and advocates to clients.
• Support clients in moving toward recovery and creating a meaningful role in life, separate from illness.
• Assist with locating permanent housing and transition support.
