Volunteers of America of Florida is seeking a Peer Specialist/Case Worker in Gainesville to mentor and advocate for program participants, drawing on lived experience to support recovery journeys.

The role emphasizes compassionate service, collaboration with a team, and helping participants access resources while maintaining documentation and communication across programs.

Qualifications

• Preferred high school diploma or equivalent; two years’ experience with adults.
• Completed Peer Recovery Specialist training or related Behavioral Health training.
• Personal experience with recovery from mental illness or substance use is preferred.
• Certified Peer Specialist a plus.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and advocate for program participants.
• Advocate for participants to access services.
• Utilize computer skills to coordinate casework and documentation.

• The Peer Specialist/Case Worker is a Veteran with lived experience to mentor and advocate for the program participants. responsible to advocate for participants;


• Preferred High School Degree or equivalent and two years’ experience with adult population. In lieu of experience the Peer Specialist must successfully complete Volunteers of America of Florida Case Worker/Peer Recovery Specialist training or complete a Behavioral Health Technician training.


• Certified Peer Specialist a plus


• Personal experience with recovery from mental illness or substance abuse disorder preferred.


• Demonstrated skills in use of computer.

Hourly rate $17.10
