PATH (People Acting to Help) Inc. is a comprehensive community behavioral health and intellectual disability center serving Northeast Philadelphia.

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• PA-approved peer specialist certification; WRAP certification preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with psychiatric or intellectual disability; ability to use an EHR.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and orientation to new staff to promote recovery-focused peer culture.
• Educate service participants about recovery concepts and WRAP.
• Engage participants in Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) in daily activities.
• Facilitate self-help groups for residents with behavioral health issues.
• Support residents in developing and practicing skills per their service plan.

Physical Demands

Must be able to assist in crisis management interventions, administer CPR/First Aid, and assist individuals with mobility issues as needed.

QUALIFICATION

High School diploma or GED; Experience supporting individuals with a psychiatric or intellectual disability, paid or unpaid, is preferred; Pennsylvania approved certification as a peer specialist, WRAP Certification preferred; Able to use an Electronic Health Record; History of receiving behavioral health services

Specific Duties

• Provide training and assist in orientation of new employees to help staff understand and accept the concept of recovery and be supportive of a peer culture that promotes recovery
• Educate service participants to the concept of recovery
• Educate and engage service participants in the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) process
• Facilitate self help groups for residents with behavioral health issues
• Co-facilitate resident community meetings to nurture a peer support culture
• Assist in the development and implementation of any other educational and support groups deemed beneficial by the program
• Assist residents in developing and practicing skills defined on their individual service plan. This may include accompanying residents to appointments, social activities and/or job opportunities, chores, and other activities of daily living.
• Link residents to community peer support to promote integration
• Model and promote self advocacy
• Share own experiences as a person in recovery and encourage residents to share their own experiences
• Keep the treatment team and supervisors informed of all potential problematic situations/concerns/issues, in addition to residents’ strengths and achievements
• Actively participate in team meetings to ensure a recovery perspective is a key component of all discussions
