Job summary

The Rescue Mission of Trenton is seeking a caring Peer Specialist to join their in-person team in a full-time role. The position involves welcoming clients, building trust, and supporting recovery efforts within a structured, 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities include one-on-one guidance, connecting clients with resources, and maintaining documentation while working with counselors and staff to ensure a safe, respectful living environment.

Qualifications

• Personal recovery experience and a desire to help others.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work well with others and independently.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to complete documentation.

The Rescue Mission of Trenton is looking for a caring and dependable Peer Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time, in-person position. This is not a remote job.

What You'll Do

• Welcome clients as they begin treatment.
• Build trusting relationships by listening, encouraging, and supporting clients.
• Check on clients throughout your shift to ensure they are safe and doing well.
• Meet one-on-one with clients to offer guidance and encouragement.
• Help clients set recovery goals and connect with community resources.
• Support a safe, respectful, and positive living environment.
• Help calm difficult situations and provide support during times of stress.
• Encourage clients to take part in treatment, groups, and daily activities.
• Complete required paperwork and work closely with counselors and other staff.

What We're Looking For

• Personal recovery experience and a desire to help others.
• Peer Specialist experience is preferred but not required.
• A caring, respectful, and positive attitude.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work well with others and independently.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to complete documentation.
• Ability to work one of the following assigned shifts.

Because the Rescue Mission of Trenton operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, your regular schedule may include weekends and holidays.

Shift Schedule

• First Shift: 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
• Second Shift: 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
• Third Shift: 10:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
