Job summary
Resources for Human Development is seeking a dedicated PEER SPECIALIST in Glassport, PA. This role supports individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions, using lived experience to promote recovery and provide trauma-informed assistance.
You’ll work as part of an interdisciplinary team to build coping skills, support personal goals, and facilitate recovery plan processes with clients and families.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Experience working with underserved populations preferred.
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders.
- Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
Responsibilities
- Provide peer support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions.
- Use lived experience to support individuals in their recovery journey.
- Assist clients with developing coping skills and wellness strategies.
- Support individuals in achieving personal goals (housing, employment, community integration).
- Assist in developing and implementing person-centered treatment plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Provide advocacy and support for individuals receiving services.
- Assist clients in preparing for recovery plan meetings and expressing their needs.
- Provide education to team members on recovery-oriented care and peer support principles.
- Engage clients through outreach and ongoing support.
- Provide crisis intervention services as scheduled.
- Assist in completing assessments and wellness plans.
