Job summary

Resources for Human Development is seeking a dedicated PEER SPECIALIST in Glassport, PA. This role supports individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions, using lived experience to promote recovery and provide trauma-informed assistance.

You’ll work as part of an interdisciplinary team to build coping skills, support personal goals, and facilitate recovery plan processes with clients and families.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Experience working with underserved populations preferred.
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders.
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions.
  • Use lived experience to support individuals in their recovery journey.
  • Assist clients with developing coping skills and wellness strategies.
  • Support individuals in achieving personal goals (housing, employment, community integration).
  • Assist in developing and implementing person-centered treatment plans.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide advocacy and support for individuals receiving services.
  • Assist clients in preparing for recovery plan meetings and expressing their needs.
  • Provide education to team members on recovery-oriented care and peer support principles.
  • Engage clients through outreach and ongoing support.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as scheduled.
  • Assist in completing assessments and wellness plans.

What You’ll Do

As a PEER SPECIALIST, you will:

  • Provide peer support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions
