Peer Recovery Support Specialist-Crisis Stabilization

Overview

The Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) provides peer support services to clients in recovery. This role includes duties typical of a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) and facilitating support groups. The PRSS collaborates with clients and staff to deliver recovery-oriented services and support.

Qualifications
  • Must have lived experience of recovery from substance use or mental health conditions and be willing to share personal experiences to support others.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work well in a team and engage with diverse groups.
  • Experience with electronic charting systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Must have PRSS Certification.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Peer Support Specialist certification.
  • Two+ years of experience in substance use or mental health recovery preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis assistance as needed.
  • Assist clients in maintaining eligibility and conducting evaluations.
  • Refer clients to appropriate services.
  • Conduct various support groups daily.
  • Assist during admissions and discharges.
  • Apply knowledge of chemical dependency and mental health to meet client needs.
  • Follow policies, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
