Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Direct, lived experience with addiction and recovery.
• Certified or eligible for Peer Recovery Support Specialist by WV Board for Addiction and Prevention Professionals.
• Two years’ experience in behavioral health and substance use disorders preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle required.
• Must pass a Criminal Background Check and Employment Fitness Determination through WVCARES and a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Implement face-to-face contact with individuals who have overdosed to establish rapport and provide information on treatment and recovery options.
• Facilitate admissions by taking referrals, completing initial assessments, and managing a waiting list.
• Initiate interim services for those on waiting list.
• Identify and resolve situational problems and changes in symptoms/function.
• Engage families of overdose survivors to support long-term recovery.
• Provide supportive counseling and skill development services.
• Monitor day and evening recovery-based activities aligned with treatment goals.
• Create and monitor individualized change/recovery plans.
• Maintain community partnerships and track participant movement through levels of care.
• Provide after-hours availability to meet client needs.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and document services per standards.
• Maintain HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 compliance and confidentiality.

Peer Recovery Support Coach - Quick Response Team (QRT)

Seneca Health Services is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center in wild, wonderful West Virginia. We provide responsible, accessible, and progressive behavioral health services. Peer Recovery Support Coach - QRT serves as a member of a treatment team and is responsible for coordination of care with community partners, providing a wide array of services for clients. Responds to community settings to offer treatment, support, and harm reduction strategies to individuals who have recently had an overdose event. Services are community-based, person-centered, and recovery-oriented.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• Knowledge of recovery principles, relapse prevention, and peer support practices.
• Knowledge of community resources and behavioral health systems.

• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Implement face-to-face contact with individuals who have overdosed to establish positive rapport with the QRT and to better provide information concerning treatment and recovery options.
• Facilitate admissions into the program by taking referrals, completing initial assessments (as necessary), and maintaining a waiting list that ensures priority is given to injecting pregnant and injecting substance users (as applicable).
• Initiate interim services for individuals who must be placed on a waiting list.
• Help identify and resolve situational problems, changes in symptom acuity, and/or function.
• Engage the family of opioid overdoes survivors to increase the likelihood that they will establish and maintain long-term recovery.
• Provide supportive counseling, educational, and skill development services to clients.
• Develop and/or monitor the implementation of day and evening recovery-based activities, which appropriately address the clients’ identified life-skills-related treatment plan goals and objectives.
• Create and monitor individualized change/recovery plans for each person served.
• Maintain positive working relationships with the community and its resources.
• Maintain list of individuals currently participating in the program and track their movement throughout the levels of care.
• Provide after-hours and non-traditional hours of availability to meet the individual needs of those served.
• Assure quality service for clients by becoming knowledgeable of and adhering to rules, regulations, and legal requirements and by documenting services provided in accordance with established standards.
• Secure information by adhering to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations and Seneca privacy policies and keeping client information confidential.
• Maintain appropriate ethical and professional boundaries and operate within the scope of certification, training, and lived experience.
• Avoid dual relationships and conflicts of interest that may compromise ethical service delivery.
• Represent Seneca in a positive manner including maintaining a positive attitude and performing duties in a manner in accordance with Seneca’s Code of Conduct and Ethical Practices.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
