Job Title: Mobile Response Team / Peer Recovery Specialist Supervisor
Shift: Monday- Friday (8am- 4pm Eastern Time)
Locations: Main Campus (5124 Greenwich Ave, 21229)
Job Scope: The primary goal of this position is to work in collaboration with the mobile crisis team clinical staff to provide mental health services including, brief crisis intervention, assessment, de-escalation, crisis planning, support focused on maintaining wellness and recovery. The mobile crisis team will respond to Hotline referrals 24 hours a day. Mobile crisis runs in Baltimore City are made as a team including a Mental Health Counselor and a Peer Support Specialist. Work is reviewed through employee supervision, evaluations, and client records.
To Achieve This Goal, The Following Duties Are Required
- Work collaboratively with other members of the mobile crisis team and respond to individuals in crisis in the community or hospital ED
- Work with the individual in crisis to develop a crisis plan, provide linkages to care and introduce other crisis planning tools to the individual as needed, prior to the MCT completion of the crisis run
- Work with all members of the team to facilitate engagement of the individual in crisis and helping them feel welcome and comfortable
- Create performance improvement plans for staff when necessary
- Provide regular documentation for supervision.
- Model behavior and ethics to the peer specialist
- Provide support and supervision to peer specialist.
- Work with individuals in crisis to assist with continuity of care by giving them mental health, addiction, peer recovery supports and other needed resources. When needed for extra support refer individuals to BCRI’s Peer Support Intervention and Support services
- Builds relationships with addiction, mental health and homeless outreach providers, peer recovery supports and other community resources
- Performs timely and accurate documentation of all clinical and client-related information
- Maintains professional open, effective, and appropriate communication with clients, BCRI staff, management, outside agencies and the public
- Complete all required trainings by the scheduled due date and maintain compliance to all BCRI policies and procedures
- Empower participants to become self-advocates for their own recovery/wellness
- Maintains professional boundaries with clients, staff and other outside agencies
- Works with all clients from a strengths-based perspective, providing support and encouragement as they move forward in their recovery
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a high school diploma, but an associate degree is preferred. Peer Support Specialist Certification is required and must have a valid driver’s license. They must have a minimum of two years of experience working in the field of peer recovery and possess experiential expertise dealing with our focus areas of treatment. They must have knowledge of mental health and addiction resources in Baltimore City. Preferred: Previous Crisis experience.
Physical Demands
Moderate walking, standing, climbing stairs, and sitting required. Light lifting may be recovery required. Transportation of clients and their belongings in agency vehicles. Minimal support and assistance with client care needs.
Working Conditions
Works as part of the Mobile Crisis Team, which provides services in the community. Visits clients in various community settings (homes, hospitals, businesses, and streets). When in the office, works generally in well-lighted and ventilated office environment.
