Job summary

Piedmont Community Services is seeking a full-time Peer Recovery Support Specialist to provide non-clinical, peer-to-peer support within the Horizons program. The role emphasizes recovery, resiliency, and wellness, drawing on lived experience with substance use disorder.

Applicants must have Virginia PRSS certification or be eligible, a valid driver’s license, and be willing to undergo background checks and drug screening.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of lived experience with substance use disorder and sustained personal recovery.
• Certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist in Virginia or eligible to obtain certification.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Willingness to consent to background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-clinical, peer-to-peer support to promote health, recovery, resiliency and wellness.
• Travel between Horizons program sites; primary work location is Franklin County Horizons program.
• Assist individuals in accessing services, resources, and community supports.
