Highlands Community Services (HCS) is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist – Crisis Services in Abingdon, VA. This role focuses on representing the consumer perspective during crisis, offering empathy and education to de-escalate situations alongside clinical staff.
You will join a dedicated Peer Recovery Team across crisis and HCS services, with a ceremonial schedule of Thursday through Saturday evenings and non-exempt status.

This position offers an opportunity to be part of a new programming and services in a unique and meaningful work environment. Work directly alongside clinical crisis staff in facility and community settings to provide in-the-moment representation of the consumer perspective to assist in de-escalation and crisis intervention by providing empathy, emotional support, encouragement, and education that can only come from personal lived experience. This position will be part of HCS’ larger Peer Recovery Team across all crisis and HCS services.
