Job summary

Highlands Community Services (HCS) is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist – Crisis Services in Abingdon, VA. This role focuses on representing the consumer perspective during crisis, offering empathy and education to de-escalate situations alongside clinical staff.

You will join a dedicated Peer Recovery Team across crisis and HCS services, with a ceremonial schedule of Thursday through Saturday evenings and non-exempt status.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience with SUD or SMI or a family member with SMI.
  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist or willingness to obtain after hire.
  • Ability to de-escalate and provide emotional support to individuals in crisis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-the-moment crisis intervention and support in facility and community settings.
  • Collaborate with clinical crisis staff as part of the Peer Recovery Team.
