Boulder Care is hiring a Peer Recovery Specialist for a 100% remote, full-time, position.
Role and location
Position: Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) – remote, full-time
Location: Reside in Washington State
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–6:00pm Pacific Time, 40 hours/week
Remote requirement: Fully remote with dedicated home workspace
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient engagement in accordance with Boulder Peer Recovery Specialist policies and procedures
- Assist patients in identifying barriers to recovery and support by empowering them in the recovery management process
- Assess patient progress, functioning, and willingness to engage peer services, collaborating with patients and Care Team members to identify short- and long-term health goals and recovery plans
- Educate on and liaise for patients to available community resources and Boulder Care program components
- Facilitate placement for higher levels of care as needed, maintaining contact to enable continuity of care transitions
- Escalate crisis situations or ethical breaches to appropriate personnel/agencies per Boulder policies
- Provide social/emotional support and recovery-relevant resources
- Maintain proactive follow-up communication with patients and providers; deliver patient outcomes reports to Care Team members
- Report situations requiring Mandatory Reporting or other regulatory purviews as appropriate
- Advocate for the patient population in company matters affecting current and prospective Boulder patients and their communities
Qualifications
- 1+ year experience navigating adjunctive opioid use disorder treatment resources and referral processes; 2+ years in peer support
- Peer certification in state of residence (active and in good standing) where available
- Certification as National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) through NAADAC expected within 9 months of hire
- Minimum two years of recovery from lived-experience in substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorders (self-attested)
- Strong preference for individuals from underrepresented recovery pathways or those with lived experiences marginalized by care systems
- High level of trustworthiness, integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part II, Code of Conduct)
- Ability to identify and connect with local resources and recovery centers
- Excellent written and verbal communication; team-focused and collaborative
- Demonstrates problem-solving, analytical skills, and ethical behavior under pressure
- Alignment with Boulder’s core values
Nice to have
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Familiarity with Medicaid billing in Oregon and/or Washington State
Work environment
- Fully remote role; candidate must reside in one of the following states: AL, AK, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IN, MD, MI, NM, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, WA, WY
- Private workspace with lockable door and high-speed internet to ensure HIPAA compliance
Compensation and benefits
- Starting pay: $24.52 – $28.32/hour, commensurate with experience
