Job summary

Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin is seeking a compassionate Peer Recovery Specialist to join our Women’s Recovery Journey team. This full-time role provides peer support, advocacy, case management, and recovery-focused services to women facing substance use and mental health challenges.

You will use your lived experience to help participants build confidence, strengthen life skills, connect with resources, and move toward lasting recovery while supporting healthy family relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field.
  • At least one year of experience working with children.
  • Current Wisconsin CPS certification required.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of community resources and recovery-oriented services.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusting relationships and provide recovery-focused peer support to participants.
  • Support women in achieving their recovery goals through one-on-one meetings and group facilitation.
  • Connect participants and families with community resources, appointments, transportation, and supportive services.
  • Advocate for participants while collaborating with community partners and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Facilitate parenting, life skills, and recovery support groups.
  • Provide case management support, maintain accurate documentation, and track participant progress.
  • Support family engagement by promoting healthy parent-child relationships and providing childcare programming when needed.
  • Assist with program operations, including client transportation, urinalysis.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and uphold Family Services' mission and core values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support women in achieving their recovery goals through one-on-one meetings and group facilitation.

  • Participate actively in team meetings and uphold Family Services' mission and core values.
Education

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience

Required:

  • At least one year of experience working with children.
Preferred
  • Experience providing case management or community-based support.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders and/or mental health challenges.
Certifications & Skills
  • Current Wisconsin Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) certification required.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license, reliable transportation, acceptable driving record, and required auto insurance.
  • Knowledge of community resources and recovery-oriented services.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Willingness to work occasional evening hours.
