Qualifications

• Massachusetts BSAS Peer Recovery Coach certification or eligibility.
• Two years of sustained recovery and active engagement in personal recovery.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Engage patients via rapport building and motivational interviewing techniques.
• Provide non-clinical education on treatment options, harm reduction, overdose prevention, and recovery supports.
• Support patients in ED, inpatient, and care transitions, including MOUD initiation/continuation, without clinical services.
• Advocate for patient goals during care planning and discharge processes.
• Assist patients navigating housing, insurance, transportation, food access, and social services.
• Facilitate warm hand-offs and referrals to treatment providers and recovery organizations.
• Maintain timely documentation of peer recovery services in the EMR.
• Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training for MA peer certification.
